History:
The school consisting of Preparatory to Grade three was founded in 1961 by the Sisters of St Joseph with the first principal being Sr Veronica (Eymard) Dillon. The Sisters conducted the school until 1978 when responsibility for management passed to the Catholic Education Office. During the mid 1980s, the grades were extended to grade six and Kindergarten was included in 2000. In 2005, the leadership and management of the school became the responsibility of Sacred Heart College. Consequently, all programs and policies are consistent with Rose of Sacred Heart College (www.shc.tas.edu.au).
Location:
The school is in the suburb of Lenah Valley. It is on a 2 hectare site, sloping to the south east with cluster buildings well served by linking pathways, all in a garden setting within this residential suburb.
Transport:
Bus services from any area of Hobart or surrounding suburbs may be accessed, with a bus provided from Sacred Heart College, New Town to and from the Immaculate Heart site.
